Day.io allows you to reschedule or substitute a holiday for an employee on another date.
This is useful when the employee must work on a holiday but take the day off later. This article shows how to perform the swap using Super Punch.
Key actions or configuration
- Locate the holiday to be rescheduled
- Navigate to Attendance > Super Punch.
- Select the desired employee and set the period in the calendar.
- In the Holiday column, identify the row corresponding to the holiday (indicated by a flag or note icon).
- Choose the “Replace” option and set the new date
- Hover over the holiday icon in that row and click the calendar icon that appears.
- In the menu, select Replace.
- The Replace holiday date window appears. Enter the original holiday date and choose the new date for the employee’s day off.
- Click Confirm to save. The employee’s calendar updates with the new holiday.
How to identify a rescheduled holiday in Super Punch and revert the change
When a holiday is rescheduled to another date, Super Punch allows you to identify both the original date and the new date selected for the day off. The rescheduling is applied individually to each employee and changes the date on which the holiday will be considered.
In the Holiday column:
- The original date of the rescheduled holiday appears with a calendar icon with an X;
- The new date selected for the holiday appears with a calendar icon indicating the applied holiday;
- When you hover over the rescheduled holiday on the new date, the Revert option appears, along with an indication that the holiday will return to its original date.
To undo the rescheduling:
- Go to Attendance > Super Punch;
- Select the employee;
- Choose a period that includes the date to which the holiday was moved;
- In the Holiday column, locate the rescheduled holiday;
- Hover over the icon and click Revert;
- In the Cancel holiday exception window, select:
- Cancel only for the selected employee; or
- Cancel changes for all employees;
- Click Confirm.
After reverting the change, the holiday returns to its original date and is no longer considered on the date used as the replacement.
Tips and troubleshooting
- After confirming the new date, check again whether the employee's Schedule conflicts with other holidays or absences.
- I don't know whether the holiday was rescheduled: check the icons in the Holiday column and hover over the new date to see whether the Revert option appears.
- I only want to undo the change for one employee: when reverting, select Cancel only for the selected employee.
Best practices
- Reschedule the holiday before its original date to avoid discrepancies in hour calculations.
- Inform the employee about the new day off so they can plan accordingly.
- Before reverting, confirm the original date and the date to which the holiday was moved.
- When making changes for multiple employees, confirm that everyone should actually return to the original date before selecting the option that applies the change to all employees.
