This article explains whether it is possible to delete a time punch already recorded in Day.io.
Labor laws may require that punch records not be deleted; if there is a mistake or duplicate, you must submit an adjustment or specify which record is valid.
Therefore, the platform does not allow deleting a punch but provides tools to correct the information.
Key actions or configuration
- Duplicate records may occur if the employee clocks in twice at the same position (start, break start, break end or end).
- Entries with incorrect time or location should be adjusted to maintain an accurate history.
- Go to Attendance > Punch log and locate the entry that needs correction.
- Click Create Punch (upper right) to open the “Create punch” panel.
- Select the employee, date and correct time, choose the Type (Entry, Break start, Break end or Exit) and provide a Reason.
- Alternatively, you can also access it through Super Punch, locate the punch that needs correction, then arrange it in the correct position. Or, click on Create Punch to enter the information.
- Save the adjustment. It will remain Pending until approved by someone with management permission.
Tips or Troubleshooting
- If you make a mistake when clocking in, do not try to delete it; submit an adjustment as soon as possible and describe the correction reason.
- Use the classification filters (Start, End, etc.) to compare punches and identify duplicates.
- If you can’t see the Create Punch button, check if you have permission to add adjustments.
Best Practices
- Encourage employees to verify the date, time and position (start, end) before confirming their punch.
- Always include a clear reason when submitting an adjustment to ease the manager’s approval.
Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, the record remains in the history, but only the approved adjustment will be considered for calculations and reports. - Can I submit an adjustment through the mobile app?
Yes. Employees can send adjustments via the app or the desktop site, depending on the permissions set by the company.
