Sometimes employees need to clock in on days that are not part of their scheduled work days.
The Allow punches in days outside the planned schedule option lets the system automatically accept these punches without manual approval.
This setting is applied per schedule and should be used carefully because it allows punches on any unscheduled day.
Open the schedule for editing
In Schedules, click the desired schedule name and remain on the Details tab.
Find the authorisation option
Scroll down to the Schedule Limits section.
Beneath the entry and exit limits, check Allow punches in days outside the planned schedule.
There are no additional fields; when selected, all punches on non‑scheduled days are automatically validated.
Save the change
After checking the option, click Save schedule to apply it.
If you do not wish to allow punches on unscheduled days, leave it unchecked. In that case, punches will be invalid and must be approved by a manager.
Additional notes
The authorisation applies only to days outside the schedule; punches outside the defined times (before/after the shift) still follow the entry and exit limits.
This option does not include “flexible” or “common” time settings; selecting the checkbox validates any punch on the day.
Best practices
Enable this option only if your company allows work on additional days, such as on‑call shifts or planned overtime.
Review reports regularly to ensure there are no improper punches on authorised days.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this option allow punching at any time? No. The authorisation applies only to unscheduled days. Entry and exit times still obey the schedule limits.
Can I set specific times for unscheduled days? No. The current interface provides only a checkbox. If enabled, any punch on the day is validated.
What happens if I uncheck the option? Punches on days without a schedule become invalid and must be validated by a supervisor.
