Syncing updates the information displayed in the Day.io app with the data registered on the platform.
It may be necessary when information does not yet appear in the app, such as a punch recorded through another method or an updated request.
This can also happen when the internet connection was unstable when the information was recorded or viewed. Before syncing, make sure the phone is connected to the internet.
How to force the app to sync
- Open the Day.io app.
- Tap Profile in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
- At the top of the screen, locate the gray bar displaying Synced at: followed by the date and time of the last sync.
- Tap this bar to start a new sync.
- Wait while the app loads the information.
- After it is complete, check whether the date and time displayed under Synced at: have been updated.
- Return to the screen where the information should appear and check again.
Important: do not close the app while the sync is still loading.
Why might it be necessary to sync the app?
Syncing may be necessary when:
- A punch recorded on a computer, on the web, or through another method does not yet appear in the app;
- A request or update is not yet visible;
- The app was without an internet connection for some time;
- The connection was unstable while the information was loading;
- The date and time displayed under Synced at: are outdated.
What should I do if the sync does not complete?
If the app continues loading or the information is not updated:
- Make sure the phone is connected to the internet.
- If you are using an unstable Wi-Fi network, try again once the connection is stable.
- Return to the Profile menu.
- Tap the Synced at: bar again.
- Wait for loading to finish before leaving the screen.
- Check whether the date and time of the last sync have been updated.
Example:
- An Absence Request was submitted, but the updated information does not yet appear in the app;
- In the Profile menu, the last sync shows a date or time earlier than when the request was submitted;
- By tapping Synced at: and waiting for loading to finish, the app retrieves the platform information again.
If the date and time are updated but the information is still incorrect, confirm that the record or request was created correctly on the platform.
Best practices for keeping the app synced
- Wait for loading to finish before closing the app;
- Check the date and time of the last sync when information does not appear;
- Perform a new sync before repeating a punch or submitting the same request again;
- Avoid performing the same action multiple times while the app is still loading.
