The Import Employees feature in the People Hub allows administrators to add, update or deactivate multiple employees at once.
This tool is used for bulk onboarding or maintenance without editing employees individually.
Use it when you need to create initial records, fix information (such as email, schedule, pay policy, holiday group, rule group, leadership) or perform mass off‑boarding.
Open the People Hub
Go to People.
Click Import in the top right corner.
Choose the import type
In the Import data window, choose one of the options:
Import new employees – add employees not yet in the system.
Update existing employees – edit fields like email, phone, schedule, pay policy group, holiday group, rule group, leadership and deactivate employees.
Deactivate employees – bulk off‑boarding.
Each option includes a Sample link to download a template file.
Upload a file or enter data manually
After choosing an option, the Select employees overlay appears with an Import file button (accepting .csv, .tsv, .xls, .xlsx, .xml and .txt) and a grid for manual input.
Drag and drop the file or add it manually.
For manual input, it is mandatory to provide Unique identifier, Full name and Subscription plan. Other fields may vary depending on the import type.
Review and confirm the import
After uploading, use Show only rows with errors and Show modifications to review data before confirming.
Click Confirm to apply the changes.
Monitor import status
To check past imports and their status, go to Company Settings > Import files.
The table lists File name, Date, User, Type and Status.
Tips or troubleshooting
Ensure your file matches the template structure; invalid columns or formats will trigger errors.
Use the unique ID to update or deactivate existing records to avoid duplicates.
Divide very large spreadsheets into smaller files to avoid timeouts.
Best practices
Test with a small sample file to confirm field mapping before larger uploads.
Keep historical copies of your import spreadsheets for auditing.
