IP validation ensures that web punches are accepted only when the computer’s network address matches an authorized IP.
This method is useful for offices using the web punch. When you register one or more IP addresses, Day.io classify punches from unauthorized networks as Pending.

Tips or troubleshooting
- Use static IP addresses to avoid validation failures if the network restarts.
- Consult your IT department to confirm which IPs should be authorized; VPNs or proxies may change the user’s IP.
- To allow multiple offices, include all relevant IPs in the same list.
Best practices
- Update the list of IPs whenever the company changes internet provider or office location.
- Instruct employees to use the web punch only on authorized computers.
- Combine IP validation with user role permissions for added security.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I register IP ranges or only individual addresses?
You can enter multiple individual addresses separated by spaces. For full ranges, each IP must be listed or you may request support for advanced configuration. - Does IP validation work for mobile punches?
No. IP validation is exclusive to web punches. For the mobile app, use Wi‑Fi, GPS or iBeacon. - Can I combine IP with another method?
Only one verification method can be active per location. To apply both IP and Wi‑Fi, create separate locations (e.g., one for web and another for mobile).
