Day.io lets companies verify where employees are when they clock in, improving time‑tracking security and transparency.
You can register several types of locations to match different work scenarios:
- Locations – Fixed company addresses such as headquarters, branches, offices or factories. When employees work at the same place every day, use this option.
- Custom location – Available on the mobile app and kiosk, employees select their current spot on the map using their phone’s GPS.
- Job sites – Addresses belonging to clients or temporary assignments. You can add multiple addresses for the same client.
Key actions or configuration

Tips or troubleshooting
- The Custom location option is visible only on the mobile app; you can enable it on the Settings under the Attendance module.
- If an employee clocks in outside of the registered address or without connecting to the required verification methods, the record will appear with Pending status until reviewed by a supervisor.
- You can change verification methods at any time by opening the location and clicking Add verification. Employees need to update the app to see the change.
Best practices
- Register all units and branches so you can create detailed attendance reports.
- Enable only the necessary verification methods for each location—avoid requiring extra checks when they are not needed.
- Keep addresses up to date and verify the Time zone shown on the map to avoid time discrepancies.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I add more than one address for a client? Yes. Create multiple job sites and associate them with the same client; each job site will have its own address.
- What happens if an employee punches outside of the address? The punch is saved but shown as Pending so that a supervisor can approve or reject it.
- Is there a limit to verification methods per location?
Yes. It is possible to configure only one verification method per location. - How can I adjust the GPS range (radius)?
Delete the current GPS method in the Verification tab for the desired location and add it again, setting a new radius as needed.
