To allow employees to clock in at specific addresses you need to register company locations, client addresses and job sites. Creating these places simplifies reporting and ensures presence validation.
Key actions
- Add a new location via the app
- Open the Day.io app with an Owner or Administrator account.
- Navigate to Profile → Locations.
- Tap the blue + button to create a location.
- Enter a name and address. Choose the correct suggestion.
- Tap Create to finish.
- Add a new location via the web
- Log into the admin panel with permission to Configure Locations.
- In the side menu click Configure → Locations.
- On the Locations tab click + New Location.
- Fill in Location name and Address. Select the correct address from the suggestions.
- (Optional) Turn on GPS verification to validate punches. There is no radius field; additional methods can be configured later.
- Click Confirm to save.
- Types of location
- Company locations – Headquarters, branches and offices used by employees who work at the same place every day.
- Client addresses – Basic client information is registered in the Clients module. The address itself is added when you create a Job site.
- Job sites – External workplaces for temporary assignments. They can be linked to clients, support multiple addresses and have additional verification methods.
Tips and troubleshooting
- If the address field doesn’t show suggestions, type slowly and allow the browser to access your location.
- If GPS verification is off, punches will be accepted without location validation. You can enable it later on the details page.
Best practices
- Use descriptive names (e.g., “HQ – Chicago” or “Warehouse RJ”) for easy identification.
- Register all company units and client addresses before creating job sites to avoid selection mistakes.
- Periodically review locations and deactivate those no longer in use.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I enter client addresses directly? Only client name, contact and email are registered in Clients. The address is added when creating a Job site.
- Do I need to enable additional verification methods? GPS ensures punches occur within the address. You can add Wi‑Fi, iBeacon or IP for extra security.
