The Day.io control panel consolidates all administrative functions in a left‑hand menu, organised by modules.
It allows you to register time punches, track time and projects, manage absence and vacation requests, view analytics dashboards, generate reports, handle documents and automations, manage people, projects, clients and services, and configure schedules and pay policies.
Access to each module depends on your user permissions.

- Record and adjust punches (Attendance)
- In Attendance, three tabs are available:
- Super Punch: displays team indicators (Pending punches, Invalid punches, Progress and Absences) with Settings and Adjust punch buttons.
- Punches: lists individual punch records with filters (employee, period, classification, verification and status) and buttons Create punch and Settings.
- On‑call: manages on‑call schedules with an New on‑call button and filters for employee, date, type and status.
- In Attendance, three tabs are available:
- Manage time and timesheets (Time)
- In Time, the four tabs are:
- Calendar: shows a weekly calendar; use Add time and Submit timesheet.
- Timesheet: organises unassigned hours and daily activities; use Add activity and then Submit timesheet.
- Time logs: shows a table with columns (Employee, CPF, Registration, Task, Project, Hours, Date, Location, Status) and advanced filters.
- Approvals: lists timesheets awaiting approval with filters for employee, period and status.

- In Absence & Vacation, search for an employee and filter by period, category and status. Use Settings to customise categories (Health, Assign schedules, Vacation, Extend schedule etc.), Import to upload absences in bulk, and New request to create a request.

- Generate reports (Reports)
- Reports offers options such as Payroll report, Clock ins report, Summary, Extra hours, Hours Bank, Clients report, Check‑in, Tax reports and Electronic signatures.
- Each report allows you to select employees, periods and types and export the data. Some reports open setup windows to choose metrics or layouts.
- Use Documents and Automation (Workflows)
- Documents lets you send documents for digital signature and create custom templates.
- Automation enables creation of workflow automations.
- Manage people, projects, clients and services
- People: import or add employees; view position, email, phone and status.
- Projects: create new projects and track progress, cost and revenue.
- Clients: add clients and view contact and location information.
- Services: register services and specify hourly cost.
- Payroll: includes tabs Closures, Pay groups, Inactive employees, Digital signature and Layouts.
- Configure the company
- Schedules: define work schedules, exceptions and breaks.
- Pay Policies: create pay rule groups (bank of hours, overtime, exceptions).
- Locations: manage sites and service points.
- Company Structure: organize Subsidiaries, Departments, Cost centers, Teams and Positions.
- Holidays: create holiday groups and assign employees.
Tips / Troubleshooting
- If a menu doesn’t appear, check your permissions. Modules like Payroll and Schedules are only visible to administrators. Documents, Timesheet, Shifts, and Analytics modules are additions to the Time and Attendance product.
- If a report shows no data, ensure you selected employees and periods correctly.
Best practices
- Define schedules and pay policies before adding employees to ensure punches are calculated correctly.
- Review pending punches and requests regularly to avoid backlogs.
- Use dashboards and reports to identify trends and make data‑driven decisions.

Yes. In Absence & Vacation → Settings you can enable or disable categories and require documents. - How do I add a new employee?
